Train Depot & Dam
The railroad played a very important role in the development of Ashton, the Sioux City and St. Paul Railroad land department laid out the town in 1872. With the railroad came the train depot, which partially still stands today. Trains were used to haul in materials and goods for use in town and the passenger trains brought new people and also took the residents to other places for special events. The old depot and dam make a nice place to take pictures or just sit and relax.
